Karmela Quiroga-Verhaaf is a multilingual poet, writer, and language educator whose life is defined by her love for her children, language, and the world around her. She lives on a farm in Hawaiʻi, the place she calls her heart’s home, where the gentle rhythms of land, sky, and family inspire her words and keep her connected to life and compassion.
A multilingual published author, she writes in English, Spanish, German, and Arabic, and is now weaving her thoughts into Portuguese. Her work moves effortlessly across languages and cultures, carrying a deep respect for the richness of human connection and the empathy that binds us.
Profesora Quiroga-Verhaaf is an educator, writer, and advocate whose work bridges language, cognition, and culture. Her teaching engages linguistic and neurolinguistic processes that shape thought and identity, reflecting a deep commitment to precision and inclusivity. She is the Founder and Director of Global Languages Hawaii, where she promotes accessible, high-quality language education for learners of all ages. An unwavering advocate for native language preservation and educational equity—especially for single parents—her work affirms language as a living vessel of history, wisdom, and human connection.
